I had big plans to drape fabric and lights across the ceiling in our reception hall. I also wanted to hang clusters of paper lanterns and strung flowers from the ceiling. Today I got the contract in the mail and it says "NO hanging anything from the ceiling or walls". I need good ideas for alternatives to make the room look polished, lush, and fully decorated. My other concern is that I want to keep peoples' eyes looking up because the carpet is hideous pink. Help!!

You can use plaster of paris, gallon cans, and pvc pipe to make lovely decorations. You will be able to find the cans at any catering company or restaurant, just ask them to save their cans for you. Clean them out good, spray paint white. When dry, mix plaster of paris by directions, set in pvc pipe. Allow to set several days. Then you can take tulle or gossemer material and drape it any way you prefer. Across the ceiling or even just along the walls from pole to pole. You can also string your lights with the material. Be sure to let enough fabric drape to the floor to cover each bucket. At the top of each pole you can either put flowers inside the poles or you can just bunch up the material to make it look like a flower. Tulle is a very inexpensive material that make an elegant wedding. You can never have to much tulle. You never said what colors you will be using. Although the carpet is pink, there are some colors that will tone down the carpet or even compliment the carpet where it doesn't appear pink. Wish you would have listed more information so I could help you better. Good luck.

Go somewhere else! Pink carpet? OMG! If it's too late to change the place, your best bet might be something really eye-catching on the tables.
