I have noticed recently that nearly every mobile speed camera van is parked in a location that should a normal motorist park in such a way would be liable for a ticket. Is it legal for the olice to break the law in order to trap others possible commiting a more minor offence.

The police are not above the law and if it is not an emergency call they are parked illegally. i once had a run in with a copper who had double parked on the pavement to go to a shop on official police business but not an emergency call. I hit his car trying to get passed. I got a nice respray out of it and compensation for car hire while the work was being done.

Hi...'YES' it is an offence.

Where the law stands in the UK on this is...If you get caught by a police vehicle for any offence, and they were parked illegally, then, if you can show this when taken to court, the magistrates 'must' throw the case out.

Report the illegal parking straight away and ask for an inspector in traffic to attend as they are required to so do when dealing with Road Traffic incidents involving Police.

What do you mean illegally? They are the police and as such are above the law, or so they think.

They think they are the above the law, just like when the Chief Constable gets pulled doing over 100mph, and oh shock...he gets let off.
Wankers the lot of them

No if it is illegally parked - then how can it be right. prove it and have them in the dock instead of you. Ah justice is sweet!
