The soul is not separate from the body.
A person IS a soul - GENESIS 2:7

EZEKIEL 18:4 shows that the soul dies (because the soul is you yourself)

You have got this concept a bit confused.
Basically the soul isn't something you have it's what YOU are.
YOU move and animate the body. You also, by viewpoint and consideration, determin your location in relation to your body, not the other way around.
Here is some more information about the soul or spirit:

The Spirit
This is described as having no mass, no wave-length,no energy and no time or location in space except by consideration or postulate.
The spirit is not a "thing". It is the "creator" of things.
The usual residence of the soul, (spirit, awareness of awareness unit....YOU) is in the skull or near the body.
The soul can be in one of four conditions.
1. Entirely separate from a body or bodies.
2. Near a body and knowingly controlling the body.
3. In the body (the skull).
4. An inverted condition, compulsively away from the body and unable to approach it.

There are degrees of each of the above 4 conditions.
The most optimum of these from the standpoint of man, is the second.

Soul is not apart from physicality, in that mind forms all physical matter; thus soul is not within bodies, but helps make up the bodies (this is in highly simple terms) and at some point, science will discover this; in fact, has begun to do so.

Everything physical is made of consciousness, and contains consciousness. Mind (Spirit, Soul) is all there is, infinite and eternal in this perfect instant the world thinks is time.

When we say you "have soul," we mean you really feel things, and expresse them well. You can "keep your soul" by being true to yourself and what you believe.

But in the beginning, a soul was what you were, not what you had. Genesis 2:7 says God made a man out of "dust" and breathed his spirit into him, and the man "became a living soul," and for the rest of the book of Genesis, and in the government today, counting the number of souls means counting the number of people.

Everthing is made up of energy(strange term?) Atoms vibrating at different speeds so the soul is a part of you at a different speed like your blood. This also governs what is solid, gas, fluid ect. Also its not necessarily inside you just your perception of yourself. Look at astral projection, lucid dreaming even has answers in some fields of physics if you don't like the so called new age answers.

we do not so much have a soul as we are a soul. a soul is what we are. it is part of us, it is not just something that can drift out, like when your mobile phone falls out of your pocket, it is more like if ur arm fell of, only more attached than that because we are a soul. the soul is more us than the body is.

thats what i think, anyway.

the soul only separates from the physical body at death, when it goes to heaven or hell, depending on whether a person is a born again Christian or not.

there are many things inside the human body that can not be seen with the naked eye. there is nothing stating the soul and spirit must stay inside as mine have gone from my body several times for a period of time before returning.

Your concern should be where is your soul going when you die?
God made sure our souls stayed inside us. But you have a say as to where it goes when you die. Heaven through acceptance of Jesus as your savior, or hell by rejecting Jesus free gift of salvation. The choice is yours.

I'd imagine the body is hanging onto it like mad--it's the only thing keeping the body from being a random lump of meat, really.
