READ THIS FIRST BEFORE YOU ANSWER THIS GUYS QUESTION. To understand the question you must first understand who is asking and why. This guy Jim Darwin is an instigating fool, who is simply playing with you and the bible. He also has his own little cult, where he has invented a false deity. And has his own little group of minions that follow this nonsense. Check for yourself. It's called the " Flying Spaghetti monster" yep that's right. Juvenile ignorance for sure. His questions are done to dissolve people's beliefs, to remove HOPE because he has none. He creates nothing. He promotes no good will among men and he's in danger with the Lord. Don't FALL with him.

It's more than "common sense".
Read anything from the philosopher Kante. He articulated some ethical concepts that you may see as "common sense", and are also taught by many religions.
For an action to be OK, it must be universalizeable, and not exploitative. The "universalizeable" aspect is very important. It means that the thing in question has to be OK for EVERYONE to do. So murder is wrong, pedophilia is wrong, and lying is wrong because you can't have everyone doing those things all the time; society would not be able to function.
Pedophilia is wrong because it is "exploitative". Practicing pedophilia uses someone else, without respecting them as a human being.
These two ethical values are very very common in lots of cultures, and make up what you and I think of as common sense.

There shouldn't be a double standard. For me an Atheist is just a person that has not had a personal relationship with God. Why should good Christians attack them? Pedophilia is a Sin, a sin is wrong and it is a way of murdering the person you have molested. You ruin the rest of his/her life and we have no right to do so. I think it is good to have people give a little tug and shake other peoples faith. Sometimes we are over-comfortable and feel almighty.

Any religious scripture could not e all comprehensive and cover every and any mattter that is concrning the societies and all that might arise in teh future also in anysociety. Eveyscripture would be based mostly on the cultureof the person who made it or the society wher it developed and would to some extent cover onlysuch matteres as are consideered to be importnt to the society in general . it may be universally applicable or might be purely realting to a particular region and culture.
Further , the conduct and principles that are generally known , and in vogue and are accepted by the society concerned and that might be uiversally accepted and known would not and need
not find a polace in thescriptures of any religion. Wha the society should do and what among the practices in vogue , that society must give up alone can normally be expected to be found in the religous and moral codes of any regions or culture . It is not understndable , why it should be mentioned in the bible , that phedophiilia was or is wrong when in any society howeever barabvarous it might be , such a thing could normally be even thought of .It is only in th emidern times the perverts seem to be inventing so many ways to fulfil thier bse and mean sexual urges in a manner even animals would hate and would never think of . .Even in the modern societies , the laws aew not covering every aspect of the day to day conduct of the people . No scripture seems to have emntioned specifiaclly tha tone should resort to shop-lifting , smoke , use pot , or other drugs , should not be a gay , or lesbian , or homosexual , should not stare at people and women , should not sleep with your mothr , shouldnot shoot your friends , should not shoot school children . should not migrate toany country withour proper visa , should not rob banks etc. these are things that naturally any society would have accepted as things taht should not be resorted to and it is not for the religious scripture to lay down the generql code of conduct for the humans in a civil society . Thre are civil criminal laws in any society to govern such matters . It is nothing short of absurdity to expect any religous book to cover or speak of such matters . It is nott th ebusiness of the religous scripture to tell you how to sleep with your wife and how longto sleepand how many days to sleep with your wife. If the religious scripture has specifially prohibited some conduct , it should be because that some practices preelent in that sociey was unconducive to the the welfare of the society. If it has not made any mention about some practices that you see today in any society , it might be because such a thing might not have existed at that time when the scripture was made. the bible had no nedd to say anything about any bad practice that did not exist in the society at the crucial period . Just becasue it is not mentioned in the bible , it does not mean that it should be practiced .
just because the Bible does not say that we two should not sleep togethre with your wife , I do not think that we can do it . i hope that this will make it clear why everything and anything need not necessarily be mentioned in theBible or any religious .text.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in pointing out mistakes in any religioustext in a constructie way . if some people beliee in some thin and respect something , it is uncivil for otheres to condemn it out right in an ofensive and crude manner . I can point out the behaviour of the christian evengelists in Inid . the stnd at busy street corners and shout at top of ther voice that all the people who worshipidols are worshipping satns and are sinners . They know that th hidus are worshipping idols as Gods. They know what they say is disrespectful to a community and offensive . They behave in a crude uncivil manner . Suppose some Hindu speaks about the Christian faith and say that they are worshipping a man born of an adultress as a god and that they are foolish in believing that a dead man has gone to heaven with his physical body to heaven and they are sinning against God and something like that . Would not the christiians feel offended ? people of no religon are free from misconduct and blame . The best behaviour would be that no one shall interfere withthe belief of otheres ,the problem is that the Christians inf=terfere with others thinking and saying that i is their duty to being every body tothe chritian fold . The others might say that it is their religous duty to slay ayomne who insult ther belief .What could be wrong in that ? The muslims think that they should convert the entire world toI slam so that Allah would grant them an eternal life os having sex in his very presence in heaven with abot sevety two damsels of equal age with swelling breasts for each non-believer slayed .He would go about killing all non believers . If every body goes about doing things like that what will happen to the world ? what will be the end ? who is responsible for such a situation? Those who interfere withothers to do religous business are the culprits who distiurb the poeace of the world and they should be restrained .

Well I am a Christian and I will tell you why I think pediophilia is wrong. Because in doing so you are hurting that child, physically, and mentally. Then it will be nothing but a vicious cycle, it would only have to start with one pedifile, who just had to get his/her kicks from a small child instead of a consenting adult. Its sad when you must go after what you can easily hurt because you are afraid of being rejected.
Oh yeah, and by the way, I do think for myself, and in doing so I have complete and udder faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! There is proof out there if you are open to seeking it and believing it instead of just not wanting to deal with it so you don't have to be accountable in what you do or what you have done. God is real and so is his love!

Ive answered the question on pediophilia by telling you about the greek word pornia. why are you ignoring that? Some athiests seem to use the same rhetoric that religious fundamentalist do in ridiculing and belittling Christians faith. Most christians reasons for asking questions is because they truly believe they can help people not belittle them.

No double standard here. Then again, I don't speak for the majority of Christians.
Pedophilia has only become a crime in the last 150 years or so, when psychology proved it was harmful
Remember Romeo and Juliet? Married at age 13?
Muhammad had a teenage wife (I THINK, no sure)
Julius Caesar was hailed as a 'stud' for having so many young teen girls wanting to marry him...and accepting all of their proposals...

Why are atheists here? categories are for grouping jointly questions relating to an analogous common topic no longer for discriminating against who would answer them. you haven't any longer any specific privileges here and we are as probably to work out questions addressing atheism as you're to work out questions addressing your perspectives. Atheism isn't a faith. The observe atheist truly potential no longer something extra effective than somebody who does not have self belief in any God. If human beings such as you may provide up spreading incorrect information and falsehoods approximately us we does not even could reply to you. by how - Gandhi replaced into no longer Christian. atypical which you contain people who're admirable into your faith while it suits you and reject others while they are too "extremist". possibly you're actually not likely a member of any Church for all your rhetoric? I ask this because of the fact to me you sound basically like a number of different hypocrite who justifies his undesirable habit with fake assertions.

Let me tell you something "get real man":
You don't know what you're talking abou. You don't know every Christian so how can you generalize? That's ignorant. I'm not a Christian because that's what I was taught to be. I made the choice to follow God. And if you think that I'm going to let you or anybody else on this board on anywhere else disrespect my God you better think again. Despite what you might think Christians are not punks.
Be Blessed

We aren't the bad people. Your question is a reaction to their ignorance. You know what is right and what is wrong. They are not objective, they are critical of others. It is that simple.
