There is no dogma in Judaism so each Jew has his own "belief." The afterlife is seldom mentioned. Jews work together as a community in a partnership with God to bring peace on earth and justice for all -- Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist, etc. My guess is that most Jews believe in a short period of cleansing following death, and that all the righteous of the nations have a share in the World-to-Come. The messiah will be a great leader who will help us to restore the world to a time of perfection.

God forgives our sins against Him whenever we ask Him. If we have sinned against others, we must first beg their forgiveness, make amends, and demonstrate that we will not sin again before we can ask God for His forgiveness.

The focus is more on the entire community of Judaism than on individual salvation. We pray as a people, Israel, and ask for atonement for the people, Israel. (The Hebrew word "Israel" means both the land and the people.)

Although the Jewish Bible appears to focus primarily on our life and behavior in this world, Judaism definitely believes in Heaven and life after death.
When a person dies the physical body returns to the earth, but the spiritual soul lives on eternally,
We do not believe in eternal damnation and hell. The Jewish belief is in a purgatory that purifies the soul of its spiritual blemishes prior to its return to G-d.
We are expect to atone for our wrongdoings in the week between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur when you go to people you have wronged and apologize (even if the person did not know that you wronged them). On Yom Kippur, G-d writes your name in the Book of Life and during the year, if you die, you go to heaven.
