Yes. A 'moment of silence' is a form of respect for someone that has passed away. So to observe that respect, one should not continue to do any work during that moment of silence.

Yes, that means to stop making noise from typing your Q&A's on Yahoo Answers...and just for a moment to be still...

there is always noise to distract one from total concentration. when someone asks to observe a moment of silence one should do so if the circumstances warrant such.

Does that mean I have to turn off my RealPlayer? If I don't would you all know I didn't and am being rude during the moment of silence?

the typing of questions and answers makes a sound. also clicking to rate a question or answer makes a sound. Clicking to scroll makes a sound and even using the wheel on the mouse to scroll makes noise. Using buttons, clicking, using the wheel on the mouse.
It all makes noise.
