Well my little girls is 2 yrs and 8 months and is finally toilet trained. I dont think there is a right age just when you think your child is ready. I have 5 children and each one has been different. My son amazingly was better than all 4 sisters but they reckon boys are usually slower. 18 months in my view is too young, wait until he is 2.

My son will be 3 yrs old. in Feb. He has been doing the potty training thing since he was 2 yrs and six months. He poops in the toilet by himself he just doesn't understand he has to go pee in the toilet everytime too. . My doctor told me when i asked him about potty training that you should not rush this because it could do more harm than good. The doctor told me when he starts acting like he is wondering why we go potty in the toilet why don't he. Then you are supposed to start it. We did it like that and now we do the poopy dance like 2 to 3 times a day. I wish he could just understand that he has to pee in there to. lol. He is getting better, but we still have a long way to go. My son sleeps the majority of the night in his bed. He always has some nights he tends to sneek in bed with me or beside my bed. Those are the nights i get him a sippy of juice or milk and put him back in bed and he usually goes right to sleep. He has done this since he has been two.

When I got PG the 2nd time, my 1st child was almost 3. He was potty training then and was completely trained maybe 3 or 4 months after he turned 3. However, my 2nd child will be 3 in Nov and shows no signs of readiness at all. I am a stay-at-home mom and that makes a lot of difference when it comes to this. I show my little boy more and more as he seems more eager to train. The worst thing you can do is push you child to train if he is not ready. When you see that they're are ready to try, this might help. I told my 1st child (Isaac, Now 5 1/2) when he peed to make bubbles in the toilet. Man, it worked everytime!! A friend of our's let their little boy pee off the porch and gave him a bag of M & M's as a reward. Oh one more thing, we use Kandoo wipes, stepping stool, and soap all made by Pampers. Works wonders. If you've never heard of it check out www.pampers.com. As far as sleeping arrangements, I believe kids should sleep in their own bed from the beginning, b/c it's easier on you, the mom, in the long run. I can tell you that from experience!!! If you're trying to get your child to sleep alone after being use to sleeping with you, you can start off by making a pallot in the floor next to your bed. Try this for a few weeks, then start going to bed with the child in their bed and after he falls asleep go get in your bed. I even let my older boy sleep on the couch sometimes if doesnt want to sleep in his own bed. Good luck with all!!

both my little girls where 21 months and potty trained in a week with no accidents, they just wanted to do it so i let them, they showed all the sighns, if your son shows the sighns there is no harm in engouraging him he will let you know if hes not ready. As for the bed i say about 2 but again it all depends, just judge on your son to when you feel he is ready.
