you have trillions of cells and cancer cells have very few biochemical differences from a normal cell that we've figured out how to exploit so its pretty tough to make a drug that will selectively target a cancer cell and not kill healthy cells. they had a little success with hormone dependant tumors like certain breast cancers, but that's about it

that is always the goal of therapy, chemotherapy and radiation treatment as appropriate..and the reason for these is basically to prevent metastasis. more often, people leave their symptoms until its too late that...cancer ahd metastasized already...or there's no obvious symptoms until it is in the late stages....
