Isn't it the 1 year olds birthday and not about the mom and her friends. Tell the mom to stop being so selfish and just invite family. If the friend wants to give a gift stop by some other time.

I think that a 1st birthday party should be a small quite affair with family members only. This is not going to be one that baby remembers and you sure don't want to make negative memories that are going to be lasting a long time. So keep it to family members only.

It sounds to me like their focus is totally in the wrong direction....the party is about the little boy and not their friends.....friends come and go but family is forever :)

ask the older sister why she is doing all this fuzz when its not her party... besides, its time to call for a truce just for the sake of the birthday boy! c'mon give the child a break! for once in their life, tell them to grow up, Please!
