Think of GOD like a father/mother figure. he watches out for your, lets you become yourself by choosing your own path, is there to listen but in the end if you choose to walk away he will watch you go and then sit patiently waiting for your return. His love for you is unconditional screw up as bad as you want he will take you back anytime. Of course like your regular parents it is going to take alot of apologizing but in the end he will always be there for you if you put in the effort to be there for him. Peace.

You have partly answered your own question. We are not love. All we can do is give tokens of what we feel and share or be there for each other. Unlike God who can give Himself.

If we think of the Love of God in terms of our love the statement that God is Love becomes meaningless.

Let us look at that statement -- God is Love. It says to me that true Love is something which God IS and not something which God DOES. (To understand this is true understanding)

When the Love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by faith that Love is not some "thing" or attribute but rather God Himself. You see we cannot do anything like or near that; because we are neither omnipresent spirit nor are we pure spirit.

Talking about agape love and other Greek words may shed some light on the Love of God. But what does agape "pure disinterested love" really say to your heart or mine? In many respects our langauge is dirty and cannot convey but only approach the Love of God.

As the old song says. "The Love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can every tell. It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell."

If I could explain the Love of God in words I would be translated out of this world. I don't think anybody can explain it. All we can do is testify to it. Give ourselves through it, when we can, and trust that God will manifest it to every heart.

While I cannot explain the Love of God I see more of it daily..
As you note. Like intimate and heart felt love between a man and his wife; the Love of God cannot be explained it can only be experienced. It is the Song of Songs from the King of Kings.

This Love is completely unlike anything you have experienced or read about; when you feel it, you will know it...and you will feel it, for you never stopped being part of it; all love is real, and loving thoughts are the world's only reality.

God's Love comes without a catch;
God's Love is eternally Now;
God's Love is freely and infinitely extended;
God's Love is everything that you actually are.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
only Gen 22:2

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Even earthly parents love cannot compare to the Love of God for us.

It is needless to say we are the creations of God and God's love is greater than any other kind of love and it is incomparable to our human's love. Our gifted bodies and souls , rain and air, food that grown from the soil, birds in the air, fishes in the sea, oil and metals, thousand species of insects and animals. There are all created for only one purpose--- to serve the human beings.
No love is greater than gifted life and soul, without the creator, we don't even exist.

'God Is Love' ,Don't make the mistake of thinking that because God is Love that everything is going to be sweet, beautiful, and happy and that no one will be punished for his sins. God's holiness demands that all sin be punished, but God's love provides the plan and way of redemption for sinful man. God's love provided the cross of Jesus, by which man can have forgiveness and cleansing. It was the love of God that sent Jesus Christ to the cross! Never question God's great love, for it is as unchangeable a part of God as is His holiness. No matter how terrible your sins, God loves you. Were it not for the love of God, none of us would ever have a chance in the future life. But God is Love! And His love for us is everlasting! "But God demonstrates his love toward us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). The promises of God's love and forgiveness are as real, as sure, as positive as human words can make them. But like describing the ocean, its total beauty cannot be understood until it is actually seen. It is the same with God's love. Until you actually accept it, until you actually experience it, until you actually possess true peace with God, no one can describe its wonders to you. It is not something that you do with your mind. Your finite mind is not capable of dealing with anything as great as the love of God. Your mind might have difficulty explaining how a black cow can eat green grass and give white milk — but you drink the milk and are nourished by it. Your mind can't reason through all the intricate processes that take place when you plant a small flat seed that produces a huge vine bearing luscious red and green watermelons — but you eat them and enjoy them! You can't understand radio, but you listen. Your mind can't explain the electricity that may be creating the light by which you are reading at this very moment — but you know that it's there and that it is making it possible for you to read! Don't take anyone else's word for God. Find Him for yourself, and then you too will know by the wonderful, warm tug on your heartstrings that He is there for sure.

My God is like the father of the Prodigal Son in the Book.
He lets us run around and act a fool. And when we get tired
of acting a fool.
He welcomes us home with open arms.

I think the best answer to that question for me was Psalms 115:3 "But our God is in Heaven; He does what he pleases.

So that tells me that it pleases him to saved us...We are save by His grace just cause he wanted to! How much love is that!? That just really shows me that he cares so much for me and was willing to suffer just to save us...just so we would have everlasting life!!!

I should go on to say that God does what he pleases, he does not make us sick or make bad things happen! It does not please him to see us in such pain, it is our fault, you know free will and all. Because of Sin we have cancers, and aids, and killings, and bone disease, mental issues, etc. God did not cause us to sin! We did it all by ourselves. He warned us not to! It all started with Adam and Eve. Its not that God is cruel, its that God is Just! Which means we cannot go through life doing whatever feels good to us! God set the Law, then we disobeyed, So who do you blame your wrong doings on, you or God? And then right when you feel there is no hope up came Jesus on the cross and paid our "bail". So step up and be accountable for your part in sin. All he wants is our love and faith, just repent. Its not hard! He wants to save you...because it pleases him.

God is Love, and His love is very different from human love. God's love is unconditional, and it's not based on feelings or emotions. He doesn't love us because we're lovable or because we make Him feel good; He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him, and He sacrificed His own Son (who also willingly died for us) to restore that relationship.
