Tweezing it Out
Pull the surrounding hairs away from the ticks body. Take the tweezers and grasp the tick as close to the buried head as you can possibly get. Do NOT squeeze, but pull gently up and away from the dog, slowly to be sure not to break off the head of the tick. Toss tick in toilet and flush. Wash your hands and your dog's skin with anti-bacterial soap.

If you suspect you may have left a piece of tick still embedded under your pet's skin, please seek veterinary care immediately. The resulting infections could be horrible, and ticks carry a plethora of nasty diseases.

Tic/Detecting and Safe Removal

Tics can be detected visually. Carefully inspect your dogs fur daily if you live in a tic prone area. You can either lift the fur or run your fingers through the coat. A small bump will alert you to a tic. On inspection you will find a bulbus body part, the head normally imbedded into the skin.

If you suspect a poisonous tic consult your vet immediately.

To remove an attached tick, use a pair of fine-tipped tweezers or special tick removal instrument. These special devices allow one to remove the tick without squeezing the tick body. This is important, as you do not want to crush the tick and force harmful bacteria to leave the tick and enter the dog’s bloodstream.
Grab the tick by the head or mouth parts right where they enter the skin. Do not grasp the tick by the body.
Without jerking, pull firmly and steadily directly outward. Do not twist the tick as you are pulling.
Using methods such as applying petroleum jelly, a hot match, or alcohol will not cause the tick to 'back out,' In fact, these irritants may cause the tick to deposit more disease-carrying saliva in the wound.

Do not use vaseline or anything else on the tick since it will cause it to release toxins into your dog. Take a pair of tweezers(or you can use your fingers and a guaze square if you don't have tweezers) and grab the tick as close to the dogs skin as possible being careful not to crush the ticks body, and then do a quick straight pull..this will remove the tick.Don't be worried if a part of the head remains it wil lwork it's way out without issue. There may be a bump and/or red spot at the site for a few days but don't worry as this is perfectly normal. Clean the area with peroxide and a guaze square or cottonball and apply neosporin.

We have done this so it does work! Use nail polish to completely cover the tick(use clear if possible). It will begin to suffocate and pull itself out. Make sure you watch the entire time, might take up to 10 minutes tops. Once it pulls it's ugly little head out make sure you flush it down the toilet! Have also heard vasoline works too, anything thick that you can cover the entire tick with and around it a bit so it will begin to suffocate and need to pull it's head out for air!

i would get tick collar right away or at least the drops. if there is one there are more to follow. shave the hair around the area, place the tip of a burnt match (while still hot) on the tick. it should back out quickly. If not afterwords use tweezers to pull it out.

Rubbing alcohol, pour it directly on the tick repeatly and it will let go. Dont try to pick it or burn it you will hurt your pet and wont get the tick anyway. U MUST get the head or it will become infected.

oh my please don't use a hot match on your pet. You can use a little bit of rubbing alcohol and gently pull the tick at the same time. Just make sure you have the head. no need to shave a bald spot around the tick either, or pluck hairs.

quite simple, you grab it between your fingers and pull, then smash it with a rock knife or anything to kill it.
