We usually break the fast with dates. Then we'll have a soup made from red lentils, onions and celery. We always have lots of fresh veggies and fruit. For the entre, we have some sort of meat dish like kabob, fish, or an ethnic stew.
After, we'll have tea and some pistacio pastries.
I am usually ok throughout the day. It's the wait from 5-7 that's hard. Then when we get to eat its great. Your eyes are bigger than your stomach (your stomach shrinks). I've lost 12 pounds so far.

Ooohh...whenever we break our fast, my family and i always eat a soup that we make every night...well not really make every night but eat it anyways. It's very...ethinic and has tomatoes and meat and all that jazz.. that and kasra (a bread made just from simolina and water) bourak (my friends refer to them as eggrolls).
Yeah..that's pretty much the first thing i eat when i break...and even though I'm starving throughout the day and i look at every single peice of food with envy...after i eat some soup, i'm amazingly full. I can't eat directly after it, so i sit around and do stuff, and then eat something that could pass as dinner, and sweets, and drink lots of liquids, and perhaps coffee too...
it's a lot of food...yeah. but i feel...full i guess.. but i still get cravingings for chocolate and stuff like that.

When it's time to break fast during Ramadan, I think it's best to eat natural, healthy foods and avoid fried, junky type foods. Also, before I actually eat in Ramadan, I drink one full glass of water. It helps.

The food that we eat at the month of Ramadan is normal everyday food that we eat, theirs no difference to it and nothing extra special. Because the whole reason for fasting is to remeber the poor people that have no food to eat at all.
To tell you the truth, you do feel abit hungry but once you've opened the fast you don't really feel hungry at all. Its just you get use to it.

My favorite is Persian food. We just eat normal things that we eat on a regular basis. Actually I eat a lot less than normal when I break the fast. I do get very thirsty after I break the fast but I have to drink slowley... Or I get a tummy ache... I feel full very quickly, and if I eat to much I feel sick! Yucky...

spicy food! my mom roasts chicken and OMG it tastes sooooooooooooo good. It feels great when breaking the fast. since, one is hungry whoel day long, having food at time of breaking fast makes one appreciate and thank Allah more than ever. Plus it makes one realise that he/she is so blessed to have food and other blessings.

it isnt anything special. can be anything that you like. things you eat normally. traditionally muslims break the fast with a date or a pinch of salt. after that you can have anything you like. i personally prefer something that would compensate for the loss of liquids and proteins. juice or milk shake with fruits and other traditional dishes.
and muslims DONT break their fast with vodca as someone else wrote. that is absolutly false.
