I've noticed that our electricity consumption has almost doubled since we got sky, so I was just wondering if its ok to unplug the sky box at night to lower how much electricity is used by said device, or will that either A, erase all the channels and settings or B, cause us to be charged for a new subscription.

hi...yes its ok to switch it off/unplug it.

When you switch it back on it searches for all the channels available, so never worry it will always work again ok.

I don't think your Sky box will be responsible for doubling your power consumption. Your fridge uses far more power. I would look elsewhere - like being over billed !

You are oblige to keep your sky box plugged into a phone line for the first years as sky uses your viewing information for marketing purposes so you might have a little bit of bother there.

As far as unplugging at night - there should be no problem as far as operation goes, although will will take a while to restart.

definite The no longer easypersistent is happier in case you place it into standby for a couple of minutes first. no longer something to agonize approximately they're fairly resilient. once you plug it decrease back in. go away it for a minute or 2 and then it is going to start up off on channel 998.

We do every night, and don't have the phoneline connected, either. In the morning, when it gets switched on, it takes a minute or two, but everything's ok.
