We already have a dog a (shitzu), and a cat(who is with his claws). They get along great. The cat is male and neutered. about 4-5 years old, the dog is about 10 years old. My daughter is moving back home and wants to bring her male neutered with claws cat here also. He is about a year old. Will this work, or should I tell her to find another home for him??

You do it slowly. Set up an area for your daughter's cat that can be closed off, perhaps her bedroom, with litter tray, bedding, feedbowls, etc. Keep the door closed so that the animals can talk to eachother under the door.
Then once the new cat is settled in that room, let it out to explore. If you like lock up the other two to start with when the new one is out.
Then just leave the doors open so that they will discover each other. There will probabley a bit of hissing an growling and maybe a few swipes, but dont be alarmed so long as there are no real fights where blood is drawn.
Just a suggestion when introducing the dog, have him/her on a lead and under control, and talk to him all the time. Dogs usually wont look directly at a cat. As direct eye contact can be considered a threat.
The two cats may just choose to ignore eachother to begin with, but all should be fine. Just dont interfer unless there is a major argument.
Give them some time and make sure each animal has its own place. They may just end up sleeping together, you never know.

When I brought in my other cat which I had two already in the house they will hiss and try to be all mean, but they will work it out. I never seperated them because I think that causes more problems they need to be around each other to learn their boundries .

It took about a week or so and they are getting along fine now . They might try to avoid each other or try to smell each other out but that is animal insticts to do that

They will have some troubles in the beginning but they'll became friends later. Just be patient. They'll get along pretty good.
