A stone is 14lb. In Britain, hearing a body weight in pounds only is very confusing, as we're all used to stone (and dividing by 14 isn't easy). Body weight and speeds are the only remaining imperial units here, all other units are metric such as food weight, liquid volume etc.
We don't use quarts either, only ml.

in aus we use the metric system but alot still talk in imperial. eg we use kilogramms for weight now and kilometres for speed distance.alot still use the old methods such as 14lbs =1 stone.we still use the foot and inches rule alot in the building trades etc but generally it's metric.similar to u.k. i'm told.
