There is no word for divorce in Hindi..the hindu marriage vows state that the couple be together in seven lifetimes unlike the christian vows which state till death do us part! Is this what makes hindu marriages stronger where they show more patience and maturity throughout life and not divorce over the smallest of fights?

skippy you are just acting like the kangaroo you are now. This does not advocate beating women, nor am i advocating that! And in general there are more crimes against women in the western and islamic countries. Hindus are more balanced when the west and islam are two opposite ends of the spectrum! if there are crimes the law intervenes! I'm talking about the commitment people have toward marriage!

Skippy you really are an unevolved monkey. I talk of marriage vows not marriage laws. LAWS are different to VOWS. If christianity says till death do us part does it deny divorce before that in case of abuse! That is for the law to handle! I'm talking of vows and IDEALISM on a personal level between a couple!

You want statistics you can see american websites for it. What is the average a crime against women every 4-6 seconds. I know now what you are going to say, thats just coz it's reported more it has nothing to do with the alcoholism, free sex and all other activities that are commonplace in the west. These are not blanket racist statements these are facts. You can also find other facts like the avg age for loosing virginity in the west is 14-15 and reducing rapidly.

NQV these acts of sati were voluntary acts by women who did not want to be raped by the rapist murdering muslims! When romeo and juliet can be glorified, dialogues in movies like titanic like "Ifyou go down i go down" don't just use sati to tarnish Hinduism. it is not required of a woman but became a voluntary cultural thing from idealism. Muslims are the diertiest bloody thing to ever cross the Hindu Kush! If there are still individual acts and people worship sati it's to glorify such ideals nobody forces the women. There is nothing we need to learn from muslims who in Sharia LAW say that the testimony of a woman is worth half that of a man.
If she's raped not only she can't prove it due to lack of witnesses but her testimony isn't even worth half that of the rapist! Fcuk Islam!

We don't need the coward muslims and the unevolved monkeys of abraham to tell a us how to be civilised. We had a civilisation while your forefathers were still swinging from trees!

Your right I wish things were different here myself, it's like our country is falling apart from the inside out. I don't know what to think of a person standing next to me any more, it's like trust has been thrown away here. And without some sense of trust nothing will ever work between two people.

Rajan S there used to be Sati or wife burning (the ancient Indian tradition, which required that the widow jump in the funeral pyre of her husband) which is still practiced in some parts of India off and on,so that the wife follow her husband in his "next life". However this was never required for the male to die in the fire that is burning the wife's body, should she die before him.
This however does not relieve the Muslims or Christians or anyone from abusing women on any side of the spectrum.
Because people can not divorce in India, they sometimes kill off their wives (who meet cooking accidents in which the woman catches fire) when the relationship goes dud or when the in-laws demand more dowry which the woman's family is unable to provide. After the "accident" the man can marry again and get more dowry from his new wife.
The new Hindu laws do allow divorce and it is rising in all cosmopoitan cities of India, even as dowry demands and wife burnings are being contained by more severe laws that are being instituted in various cities and police is dealing severely with in-laws and husbands of women whose wives are burnt to death.
The main problem of a lot of hardship on women in India is because of demand and supply situation. Until recently when abortion became an option to identify and kill off girl fetuses, the number of females far exceeded the males, as female babies are stronger internally and can resist diseases better, while the male babies are ultimately stronger externally but many times succumb to diseases in early childhood, although the initial birth rates of males and females are by and large in balance.
When there were more girls than boys, it caused the parents of girl babies to arrange money to marry their daughters off. This would put a lot of pressure on families that had girl babies who would essentially go bankrupt trying to marry off their daughters and you still hear of families with all girl babies committing suicide after killing their daughters.
Marriages are still largely arranged by the parents who are also responsible to bear the expenses in India, unlike the West, where the couple manages to arrange their own wedding with some help from the family at times.
It is better to have a broken or divorced home any day than to burn a woman alive pretending that it is an accident. I personally know people whose wives have burnt to death.
I am sure some are certainly accidents because of the long saris the Indian women wear, which can catch fire during cooking.

I grew up in a christian loved ones, however i used to be disobedient, lazy, did not care so much approximately whatever, i used to be an atheist. I was once beautiful egocentric as good, did not care if i harm any one simply so long as i obtained what i desired. I gave the look of a well boy, however i used to be very deceitful. I consistently desired concentration, vigour, manage of the drawback. Then someday, a number of months after i ultimately graduated top college, I grew to become a christian with very hardcore values. Now I'm more commonly one of the vital loving, being concerned men and women you'll be able to meet. that approximately sums it up.

Um two reasons one is because some Christians pray for things yet don't wait on God but except the counterfeit that comes along. For example God promised Abraham a son but did not say how so Abraham went out and got his concubine pregnant and had a son name Issac. Yet later on his wife Sara became pregnant at 90 with a son also and so on... But you can clearly see why people turn away from God. Also Christian in America is under scrutiny from secular humanism and some of us as believers have adapted their ways and teaching so they to eventually turn away... Christianity is a lifestyle not just a religion when we get married don't we say "till death due us part" but because we allowed secular humanism to enter into or ways....... So truth be told when people don't like you they tend to point out all your flaws and make them look worse than what they tend to be so....

Our constitution has withstood for centuries while ALL other governments around the world including Hindu countries change every 20-40 years give or take. Why? because of our dedication to putting God in our government. But we are under attack by one world government atheists who control our media and many of our government positions and have ripped God out of our society to the point where we have lost loyalty to our country, our families, and ourselves. God will punish this country but not as long as there is one righteous person here. The bible says when he comes soon to take away his church and all stock markets collapse and the cashless society is installed along with the one world religion and mark, he will crush the west along with every other direction for his wrath is upon all nations. In the last days many shall fall away from the faith.
That is why.

It is the sad situation in the world without exception to Hindu areas of influence. Your religion may not allow you to criticize other religions, dear friend.
Not only children, youth, but men of all ages have turned away from God for the last few centuries, when most believers as well as non believers interested more in seeking for material pleasures than in attaining spiritual bliss taught by the One True God, through His Divine Messengers throughout history.
The sole solution for this condition is a humble and sincere return to God by learning and practicing His divine teachings.
The teaching about spiritual bliss is in no way against industrial or technological developments, but it is truly a stronger encouragement for them, because spiritual bliss cannot be reached by escaping from daily life, but by selflessly rendering greater service to all mankind.

I am not Hindu but as a friendly and honest Christian, I must say that the west is losing the battle and we are weak. The Christian society that created the U.S.A. is now all but gone because we (the Christian people ) have allowed ourselves to become engulfed with sin and impurities created by society. I sometimes wonder myself why what happen's but God warns us in the Bible and tells us what we can do to help other's and ourselves and even our own country. I guess it is okay for everyone to hate Christian's and not the sin.

I had no idea Hinduism was like that, but yes, you are sooo right. If a man beats the hell out of his wife and treats her like dirt, she shouldn't ever be allowed to get a divorce! That would be immoral or something. And two people who used to love one another but now only hate, they are FANTASTIC role models for their children, as I'm sure you'd agree.
I seriously thought Hinduism was smarter than this, but I guess not. And seriously, how dumb is your argument. "Christianity only believes in one lifetime but we believe in SEVEN"? That's like saying we are tougher on crime because we execute our criminals a hundred times...yes we actually kill them 100 times, and you just do it once! How dumb can you friggin be?
On a side note, I can't believe I am defending Christianity LOL
Also as an aside, I'm a Yank who likes a particular brand of peanut butter, not an Aussie. I don't hate Hindus, and I don't think you have any more inclination towards spousal abuse. However not allowing women to leave an abusive husband is wrong, and you gotta admit the seven lifetimes thing is just the silliest argument ever! Oh and if you are going to make blanket racist statements against westerners about spousal abuse, you'd better back that up with verifiable statistics.
I dunno, maybe I just get my back up when people moralize and insult not only me, but my entire people. Its not nice. And I can see from your own anger (and name calling, that was uncalled for) that it makes you mad when people give it back to you. Besides, I disagree with your whole premise, that we aren't taking our faith seriously enough. I feel the complete opposite. And even though it may not be law, and just silly (yes seven lifetimes is freakin silly, get over it) tradition, tradition carries nearly as much weight as law, sometimes more. You know that. So still couples get trapped in unhappy marriages, women get stuck with abusive husbands (it happens here to by the way), for what? tradition? some bogus morality? please, they are doing no one any favors. And neither are you with your high-horse, brow-beating, let's bash the west because they really suck and india rocks totally, bs, nationalistic, ethno-centric arguments.
Whew, I need a drink LOL

because we are forced
to remove prayer from schools
to remove Ten Commandments form public life
to not be able to punish our children
to push abortion as perfectly fine even thought it kills our babies
to accept something that God considers an abomination
( gay marriage) as ok when it is absolutely NOT ok
shall I go on?..........
we need good influence to offset the bad immoral influence and we aren't getting that these days
in essense, we are being forced to remove God from our lives by immoral government leaders.
