It's an answer that will vary greatly...
Theists (people who believe in God, like Christians, Jewish, Muslims, etc.)--they don't KNOW God exists, they just have faith that he exists.
Atheists (who do not believe in God)...they don't KNOW God does not exist..they just believe that he doesn't.
Agnostics-who are neutral on the issue, believe that it is impossible to ever prove or disprove whether God exists.
..that's why I'm agnostic. But it's all up to you.
about the post below me that says believing in God will stop people from doing bad things...That is not true! What is up with all those people in jail who spend their time reading the Bible and have a cross tattoo. And the Muslim terrorists of 9/11...etc.
..Believing in God DOES NOT stop you from doing bad things.

Oh, please don't consider me to be to be a "because the good lord made it that way" type of person. (as the answer to every question, I mean,)
Okay, I'm a Christian and I believe in God. Unlike popular "belief" in this post, I do think that God's existence is real, and it can be proved.
Just look around you, at the beautiful skies and mountains and creatures? How could this Earth be something that just "happened" for no particular reason? Like "poof", and it's there? There's proof that Earth hasn't been around forever. What was the universe harboring our tiny earth doing then?
Believing in God proves that the Earth, our lives, and everything we know is real. That's my proof.

I do not have the proof that God is there. But at least, the belief that 'God is there' in many people stops them from doing bad things.

Yes of course, you need only to look around you to the sky, the plant, the animals and first of all to yourself how He creates your body, your eye & give it the ability to see, nose & give it the ability to smell, your heart & how it beats, your brain & how it give signlas to all the body to move in less than femto-second. Don't you believe in God after all these & of course other things. I advise you to read in a medical encyclopedia to realize what i have said to you.

Pascal's wager,
put simply, if you believe there is a god, and live accordingly, the if you're right, all will be well.
if you don't believe in God, and live like nothing's going to matter anyway once you, die, and if you're wrong, you're literally in hell.
so the choice is yours, but I figure it's better to believe in god, just in case!!!

Oh, yes, at least one. I'm a polytheist myself, which makes the answer to your question so much easier for me. You see, I don't have to shove all good attributes into a single eggs-in-one-basket kind of religion. But there are those who find value in monotheism, so whatever floats your boat, you know?

If there is a god he is a complete sadist killing innocent people in the way he does. So if there is one, why should we spend time praying to something that takes innocent lives? So no i dont think there is a god.

Now just don't listen to any one, don't believe any one. Believe only in yourself. When YOU believe there is God, there is. Just wait for it to happen. Do other useful things in the meantime.
