Delightful isn't it, yes you should be flattered, my cat brings similarly gruesome things for us and our puppy, she brought him a live mouse a couple of weeks ago and released it in his basket in the kitchen, that was a fun afternoon!!

My cat frisky brings home ground squirrels, rabbits, birds, mice, and all sorts of little critters all the time. He wont eat any if I'm around until i give him praise.

He sits the animal at my feet. Climes up in my lap. And then runs off with the animal.

The first time he ever brought anything home, it shocked the heck out of me. He was 2 yrs old and i was in 8th grade I think. He had gotten a baby rabbit, chewed the leg off where his was amputated bc he was hit by a car. To this day I can't that thought out of my head. I don't know if he did that out of hatred, or love lol.

You should be actually, its your cat trying to impress you by bringing home its catch and saying in its own way "look what I caught mum/dad!" if you're not impressed with it then wait till the cat has wandered off again and quietly dispose of it. Its a fact of nature that cats will catch and half eat other animals, a few weeks back my boyfriends cat did just that with a baby rabbit, she had a munch on the head and front paws and bought the rest home for us....errrr....cheers moggie! lol

I have owned cats all my life and from being a child was appalled by my cats bringing dead mice and birds home. Then I read that it is mainly spayed Queens who do this and that it is something they would have done for their kittens if they had been allowed to have any.

I thought this was quite sad so the next time my cat brought a dead mouse and laid it at my feet I praised her enthusiastically for bringing me her gift. The cat obviously appreciated my thanks because she started to twirl and prance and made happy little chirruping sounds.

I discreetly disposed of the 'gift' and continued to thank her for all the subsequent ones.

One happy cat!

One less appalled and more understanding owner!

Oh, aye - I think so. You should be flattered, it's the cat acknowledging you as superior, even more so to his own owner!! He's showing off his physical prowess to you, seeking for approval. But by any chance, this bird wasn't Tweetie Pie, was it? I've not seen him around in a while. Hahahah!! : )

Enjoy your day.

"When a cat bring's you a dead smelly thing.. it's a sign of love you twit." These were the words Garfield said to Jon Arbickle when he dragged a fish in to him. Jon's reaction hadn't been nice and Grafield had given him a good smack with the cadaver, informing us of the ultimate show of kitty love. (Garfield eats his heart out, 5th edition)
Lizzy, you're lucky. My cat dragged a snake in and once laid a dead mouse at my grandmother's feet cuz she drove it away when it was begging for food. What she said was you never bring me anything you catch so why should i share? just be careful she doesn't leave a live one by accident. lol

Yes you should, cats leave animal remains of what they have caught as a sign of friendship. In the wild, lionesses bring there catch to the male lion so he can eat first even though he didn't hunt for it as a sign of respect. So congratulations, the cat thinks of you as the leader of the pack.

Yes, you should be flattered, for the reasons that everyone else has given to you.

All the idiots who answered "no" clearly know nothing about cats.
