Not if you get a place outside of Manhattan and I recommend the Bronx. Rents are cheaper there and you'll be in a much safer place for the price than if you were in Manhattan. Also some parts of Brooklyn are beautiful and quiet. Actually if there wasn't a train going by it would look/feel like suburbia.

No! How do you think people live here working ar McDonalds or sweeping floors, or being out-of-work actors or artists? There are so many ways to live here... not comfortably, but to live here, yes.

i have lived in nyc for 22 years and the thing i notice the most lately is that there is no middle class. either you got it or you don't ..... if you live in nyc you are either rich or poor no in betweens.....
