You are able to drive on your Aussie licence for one year from the date of your arrival in the UK. If you have not passed the UK theory, and driving test by the time that year is up you have to revert to being a learner and need a UK provisional licence, and a qualified driver of the age of 21 or more, who has held a full licence for at least three years, to be present with you when you drive and you will have to use L plates then as well.

Michael, I have looked at both links and whilst the RAC link includes Australia in exchange licence category, the link I have provided doesn't...which is pretty confusing really. Your best bet would be to check with the DVLA for the absolute correct information!

You can drive on your Australian licence for up to 12 months then you have to apply to exchange it for a UK licence. See the following for futher info http://www.rac.co.uk/web/knowhow/learning_to_drive/the_driving_licence/using_licences_from_other_countries_in_the_uk;jsessionid=5118F6F0CA78A6B3E3FCAB5974BF40E9

yes. she is not in aussie anymore. aussie license is an aussie license.

she may have a one year grace period, but it is easy enough to get a transfer with a simple theory test to show current knowledge of UK rules.

shouldnt need to drive to prove you can.
