OKAY people read the question again. She didn't ask if he could call from his cell phone form jail. Also if he is going to be staying in jail he will be making more than 1 phone call. I have a family member in jail and she is allowed to call like once every one or two week and talk for 30 minutes, Anyways the answer is most likely no. Most jails only allow a person to make collect calls no calling card, just collect calls. Since he is calling you collect to a cell it might not go through and if it does it not only will take up minutes but charge you a long distance fee. You might want to call your cell phone provider and ask them. Now you probably could forward your house phone to your cell and that would be okay.

Another bunch of people answer questions they know nothing about.

Most jails will issue the inmate a calling card when they get booked, time on the card varies. If he is using a calling card he shouldn't have a problem getting ahold of you. After the card is gone its collect. Most jails also contract through phone companies and wont allow collect calls to cell phones unless the person with the cell phone calls the company and gets their number unblocked.
Call the jail and they will be able to get you basic information about the inmate and ask them about collect calls to cell phones.

I doubt it. Most calls placed from a correctional facility, have to be collect calls. Or he can use a calling card. The kind you buy in stores that have a certain amount of minutes on it. They probably will not let him have a cell phone in jail.
