No, not at all, most don't work. Just eat a lot, espessially carbs and protein. Have a solid workout plan, start light.
If you want to lose weight, don't do that much lifting, do mainly cadio. Lifting will make you gain weight.

I'm a bodybuilder, and I'd definitely recommend a good vitamin supplement, as well as iron if you feel you need it.
I also use a whey protein mix inbetween meals on occasion just to ensure I'm not burning mucles instead (I'm cutting so carbs are out for me).
Try visiting this site: www.bodybuilding.com it's got a shedload of info about every supplement under the sun (articles section), and it may help with your workouts too. :D
Good luck!

If you aren't seeking bodybuilder physique, then I don't recommend taking any supplements. All those chemicals are probably not good for your kidneys in the long run.
Just make sure your diet is in check:
-get enough protein
-watch fat and carbs
-balance with fruits and vegetables

every person is different, some people can workout for a couple of months and build masses of muscle, some people workout for a year and gain nothing. if you've already got a good size about you then maybe just some kind of energy orientated shake which will help you with your stamina and muscle recovery. i would recomend concentrating on your diet though, lots of small meals with plenty of protein.

eat well, and eat often.
instead of eating 3 meals a day, cut these meals in half and half 6 smaller meals. this will be better for your blood sugars and optimises growth of lean mass. it wont have you bulked up, but it will manage your body better.
only take supplements if you aim to be more than your genetics can take you, once you are at that peak, otherwise as a beginner, its expensive urine.
try the meals smaller, and more frequent. you will notice a difference in a few months time.

In my opinion you should stay away from supplements like protein shakes and tablets because they dont do you much good long term (liver problems etc.) and definitely stay away from steroids. If you are eating healthy already then keep doing what youre doing and maybe take a multi-vitamin tablet each day to keep your anti-bodies in check.
Good luck!

Whey protein isn't a overall performance enhancement like something you in easy terms listed. it truly is a protein. a good work out schedule and protein is all you would be able to desire to earnings muscle groups. there is not any would desire to pump risky and risky supplementations into your physique to ensure which you to cheat to get the outcomes you like. Creatine damages your liver and kidneys, as do many different "mass gainers". -Connor

you dont need supplements. they are only made to help increase your size and fatiuge recovery. but I found a great one is Hydroxicut hardcore. it helps me put in a few more reps and speeds up my muscle fatuige (ps I cant spell either!)
