Don't play with them, cool or otherwise.
Spend time with them they will probably pick it up. They probably understand exactly where u r and could be pleasently surprised.
If they are surprised it might take a little time as you said to get on the same page. So if it's building just keep hanging out.
Give them that time to develop their interest a little. Give them confidence to show that your holding out for them to come shining through. Be careful not to arouse jealousy etc.

Send them the lingering look now and then, smile, don't act too keen. ASk them questions about themselves just generally flirt but not too bunny boiling!! If they like you back they should pick all this up....... try sending them a flirty text message, If they don't respond nicely say 'Oh i am soooo sorry that was supposed to go to adam not alan!!' he he slip of the finger type of thing!!

Try to pick up on the subtle hints. Don't tell them how you feel it may scare them off. Be friendly but not pushy, have a laugh with them but be prepared to accept it if they are not on the same page.

just tell them you would like to kinda take it slow. I dont really think there is a better way then being straight forward and honest. It will get you alot farther.

i dont think you have to say any thing just show him
