At least let him roam around your house. You don't have to let him outside. Do you live on a busy street? Is there a street light in front of your house, or do you have lights in your yard that reach the road so cars can see if your cat is in their way? You could always invest in a screened in porch, just make sure the screen is strong against cats so they don't claw their way through.

My cat Cleo got hit by a car 2 years ago. I understand the pain. We have 7 cats now and let 3 of them outside. For the longest time I didn't even want to let them out because of this. Cats are smart creatures, but some times accidents do happen. I made sure that all 3 of the cats who go outside have name tags. You don't have to let your male cat outside, but at least let him roam around the house. You being so protective over him is going to make the situation worse. His "girl friend" is dead and now he is being punished for it. I'm sure he misses her as much as you do, I know Kitty acted differently when Cleo died.

About a year and a half later a 2 day old kitten was dropped off at my friends vet clinic and I decided it was time to get another cat, my little Gizmo. Now I won't let her outside, I am VERY protective of her and I love her to dead, but I love her enough to let her play around the house and with other cats. I hope this helps!

Can understand that; but don't go overboard. Remember, the cat is not a toy nor a prisoner of love. He has to do some cat things to be a happy, healthy cat. You don't have to let him outdoors - in fact, you shouldn't let cats out unsupervised. But please don't confine him to your room. He needs to walk and nosey around the house! Get him lots of toys and a cat condo or cat tree so he can exercise.

Enjoy your cat and I am sure YOU are the best thing that ever happened to your cat. Don't disappoint him.

First of all, I'm really sorry about your girl cat. That must have been horrible. But, for you boy cat, I would just let him run around your house. I just wouldn't let him outside. Maybe he can just be an inside cat from now on. It's a lot safer and you don't have to worry about him getting hit or stolen.

I'm sorry. What I would do is not let your cat outta the house. i have 2 cats and i don't let them out of the house. SOMETIMES i take one of my cats outside, but i hold her the entire time, and just let her sniff around a little and i take her back in. and my other cat, i don't think she really cares lol. But just don't let him outside. let him stay INSIDE and only take him out if u hold him and don't let go. hope that helps!
