To be honest I'm am starting to question why everyone seems to waste some (if not most) of their time looking and crying over the fact that they don't have that special someone. I don't understand why exactly most people seem to do this, is it honestly a defect of humans, or what society does to us (making us forget to be alone?). I've actually did a little research (view the question below), personally I think I've pretty much proven that the old saying "there is someone for everyone " is just a bunch of ****.
I wont lie, I tend to do this to sometimes, but I'm doing my best to stop those urges and feelings, and focus them on better things, such as wealth, power, and my life's work. The question is simple Why does everyone waste their time looking for love?

Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not put on airs, it is not snobbish. Love is never rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not prone to anger; neither does it brood over injuries. Love does not rejoice in what is wrong but rejoices with the truth. There is no limit to love's forbearance, to its trust, its hope, its power.
Most desire this ... however, seek love disguised in other forms, which is not love, causing the pain and indifference you are now experiencing.

Looking at it pragmatically, love's a huge waste of time, energy, money, and resources. However, I just can't be a pragmatic person when it comes to love.
No matter what I gain in wealth or power, it feels hollow and meaningless unless I have someone to share it with. Love is a necessity for some people. If you can liberate yourself from it, I admire you. But if you can't, just accept it as a necessity... and have faith that one day you'll meet someone who removes the burden from your desire.

It is because we were created to love (or in other words to worship)... The problem is that humans turned that longing into a wrong direction trying to satisfy it with things that won't ever satisfy completely. And love (as you put it) is one of those. We a relational beings and our ultimate relationship is with God. He is the One we ought to seek first. Because people forgot Him, they turned to other things like love, money (wealth), power, etc... Cause the emptiness within still remains.

it's because we are human beings and human beings have always sought out companions. if we were robots we wouldn't search for love. but it is often a waste of time, sure. you can live your life not looking for love and still find it, so if it annoys you, then just do your thing!

Virtually every creature that walketh and crawleth on the earth seeks out a mate. It's because of what's in our jeans...er, I mean genes.

Because it's love.
There is always someone to love, but no one is perfect. To stay in love you must work at it.
I love my boyfriend, but sometime I can't stand him. I know we have to work everyday at our relationship to make it last.
Love isn't easy, Lust is.
