My close friend has experienced some pretty shitty events and it has hurt her alot. She doesn't seem to feel anything. She doesn't smile, laugh, cry, she barely talks to people anymore. She went from being the sweetest giver and bubbly happy person to this dark morbid being who is droidish in her lifestyle. She doesn't go out doesn't talk to her old friends and closes the door to any new relationship that might possibly occur. I want my friend back! I fear she is gone.

I have done the same thing if I'm understanding how she is doing correctly. I am bi polar and i go into a deep depression at times Ive had a few bad ones in my life. She does need to talk and if she will not talk to you then she needs to talk to someone maybe someone professionally but, you will do if she will open up. If not someone needs to take a hold of the situation and get your friend some good solid help maybe at this point she may even need some anti depressant drugs for awhile. Please get your friend some help one way or another OK?

Please keep an eye on your friend, and watch for some of the signs of suicide:
1. Any sudden change in outlook or attitudes
2. decreased interest in school, work, friends, etc...
3. Giving away possessions,
4. Inability to concentrate,
5. Pushing away friends,
6. Changes in diet or sleeping patterns,
7. Sudden change in appearance (not caring how they look),
8. Finishing unfinished business,
9. Asking questions about death,
10. Obsessing about death,
11. Participating in high-risk activity (heavy partying, unsafe sex with multiple partners, etc...),
12. Poor hygiene.

Some things your friend might say that should ring some bells for you are:
"Nothing ever goes right for me."
"It'll all be over soon."
"Whatever, nothing matters anyway."
"I hate life."
"Everyone would be better off without me."
"I just can't take it anymore."

Be there for your friend, listen to her without being judgemental. Let her know you are willing to do whatever needs to be done to help her. If she does admit to being suicidal, DO NOT promise to keep her feelings a secret... tell someone... anyone that you trust to take your friends best interest to heart.

Give her this number: 1-800-273-TALK. It's a suicide hotline.

Oh sounds like she is depressed/stressed out. What are the problems she has in her life?.......Has she had a partner while you both havent spoken?maybe she is pregnant and going through a dramatic change...and she is feeling a bit emotional. How long has she been in this situation?......................

I dont have anything else to say,but i can assure you to keep seeing her, maybe that is what she wants, but she doesnt know how to get through what is causing her to not enjoy life.Your a great friend.A person who probarbly is always there for your friends.Ring her up in other words ask her is she is ok and just be open about what youve told us.Theres always something wrong when someone doesnt open up.

It basically means what you explained. That some goes through a lot and hit the bottom, closing themselves off and appearing cold and distant. You should do everything you can for her, and I think that you also should encourage her to look into counseling and/or support groups.
