You are coming home, not everyone has, so I think when the plane taxies in, I would say "thank you God for bringing me home safe".
Then I would take some time to pray and ask Him what His plan is for your life and what is the best way to live?
Then call your mom or dad and thank them for their prayers. Call your friends, have a good dinner and go to bed.

Okay, are you redeploying with your unit, or are you going back on R&R? There's a difference.
If you're over at Ali Al Salem right now enjoying the comforts of McDonalds and flat sand tables for as far as the eye can see, then you'll receive briefings on what to do every step of the way.
If you're touching down for R&R, the first thing you should ensure is your Leave Form gets turned in properly before you do anything else and make copies at the earliest (and don't lose it, as it's a real pain getting your per diem straightened out at the end of deployment without it).
If you're redeploying, ensure all your sensitive items are accounted for at all times and listen to the safety briefings before dismissal. Needless deaths due to traffic accidents and alcohol are off the charts right now. Don't become a Red Cross message.
By the way, volunteer for baggage detail. You'll likely get better seating on the plane that way. Good luck.

take a nice long hot shower. i went to iraq twice and both times when i came home that was the first thing i did.

take a hot shower, drink a cold beer and have some wild sex and get some much needed rest. have a safe trip home!
