People don't laugh because that person farted, they laugh because of everyone's reaction. Like if a person farted and he then started looking around all embarrassed to see who noticed that would be kind of funny. Some people wouldn't actually care which is also funny because we now we know that he is disgusting. When I hear a person fart I only laugh until I see the expression on their face because they look sooooo worried, embarrassed so, so stupid. So it's not the fart that everyone laughs at, just the reation towards it.

Let's face it... farts are funny.
No, really.. they are!
Why? Because they happen at the most "unexpected times", and almost always from the person you would never expect to hear a fart come from!

My last girlfriend "tried" to use the classic
"One Cheek Sneak"... It only worked when she was driving the car... (cushy seats!) but the results were the same...

We would be flying down the freeway, having a serious conversation.. when suddenly... OMG...

The odor of 1,000 rotting corpses would suddenly fill the car...
It was so bad my eyes would water.

And she would get that "cute little I just farted smile" on her face.

I'd plead with her to roll down her window, as I had learned from past experience that if I rolled down mine...
I would experience the "full effect" due to air flow... !!!!

Gives new meaning to the term "Gas Chamber". !!!!!

As for embarresment, the "farter" should be secure enough with themself to laugh if it was an accident.

People who intentionally fart need to grow up!!!
It's very rude in my oppinion.

And.. uh, hold on.... ahhh.. thats better....

Have a nice day!!!!

(My plant just died....!!)

Yes this is common, but it is nothing more than a reaction. People do not intentionally laugh in order to hurt that person or embarass them. It is usually only because it was unexpected and laughing occurs at many times with many people when something unexpected happens. Kind of like how people jump or scream when they are frightened.

You would have to ask the movie directors that bc it seems now in every movie there is a fart scene. The fact that is is an accident also makes it funny (even if it is nasty.) Face it we live in a society of crude humor.

people laugh at the sound of farts.. *pbbhht*
i find that rather immature.
it's normal to fart, so why not make it a everyday routine?
