Conflict??? I think every normal person should at least speak 2 or more languages, my 12 year old son, which i grew up bilingual (dutch and german) now also speaks english and italian, in school now he started with french... i think he'll have great advantages in future, just like i have them.

I would not have a conflict view on bilingualism. Few months ago, I visited Europe and met several people who spoke about four languages or more.
I guess conflict view is when you disagree with an idea.

Hmm not sure about what you meant by your question, no idea if there're actually 'conflicting vies on bilingualism'.

Bilingualism (or even trilingualism, multi-lingualism) is becoming more common these days, and most of my friends are bilingual, at the very least.

Well I dont know excatly what you mean, but I would expect that If I traveled to france or something, I should know enough french to make my way around.
Just as I feel people who visit or come to live in america should know enough english to get around.
I mean you dont have to know the whole language, but dont get pissed at me because I dont know the chinese word for bathroom, learn vital words for the country you're going to before you get there. LOL
