If you don't HAVE to have a full breed, My husband and I found a couple who were breeding their Shiz tsu and Peekapoo, which made the most adorable pups that only cost us $75 for the breeder to get her first shots. She is the most adorable thing and I believe mixed breeds make better dogs.

Maybe check your local paper or look around on your local classifieds on the net and see if anyone is selling any small mixed breeds of Shiz tsu or Silky terrier puppies. I don't think you would disappointed. We also have a mixed breed Yorkshire terrier/Dachshund that cost us $150, and he, too, is the most adorable dog.

They have both made us wonderful pets. We, too, were looking for a way to own a miniature type dog without spending top dollar for one. Trust me, you wouldn't be disappointed, unless you are planning to be a breeder yourself.

A local breeder if you agree to get it fixed asap and not breed it. Usually a breeder will have a runt of the litter that they won't / can't sell for full price. Make sure you don't get a sick puppy though!

A shiz cross would be a healthier dog though. Shiz tsu's have a lot of health problems... Take a look in the paper and you might find a litter that someone is giving away!

A purebred Tzu is no less healthy than a cross.... the idea that a cross is healthier is a myth, IF you are dealing with a breeder who only breeds with the health and welfare of the litter in mind.

If you go to a puppy mill / back yard / "hobby" breeder, then you are asking for health problems.

I urge you to consider contacting your local Shih Tzu rescue group. They will have varying adoption fees but if you are committed and have the ability to care for the animal and make a life long committment, they will surely work with you. They will have plenty of abandoned Shih Tzu's needing loving homes, and if you adopt an older one, it might even come to you already housebroken and spayed or neutered!

I just recently done this myself, I just put my depsosit down on
my shih tzu yesterday. I don't know where you live, the closer
you get to your area the better. When you by a ways away you are looking at a shipping fee which puts the price way back up there. There was an add in my local newspaper today: shihtzus 8 wks old apri registered $250male$275female#4176523598
also you can check on puppyfind.com that's where I found mine.
hope this helps.

i really doubt that. i don't know where you live or whatever, but maybe you might be able to find an older shih tzu at an animal shelter or something for like $100, but if you are looking for a younger shih tzu, the cheapest that i have seen for a pure breed shih tzu is like $500. I know, i have two, and we got them for a discount because we knew the breeder. I wish you the best

It's terrible to have to pay for a dog especially when there is so many in shelters. It's really sad that when you buy a dog from a pet store or breeder there's one thats dying to be adopted. It's
not fair when we created this mess. sorry can't help you
