I attract literate geeks so I can only help you a little. I suggest that if you want a literate guy that you reject any guy who you haven't actually seen reading. It doesn't count if he hold the book upside down or if there are fewer than 10 words on the page.

Woah, woah, woah, slow down there. We geeks are typically the most literate people you'll meet. You're talking about dorks here. Keep the nomenclature straight.

And you're not the only one with that problem. The crux of the situation is that most people are functionally illiterate and barely able to convey meaning through writing. It's awful, it sucks, but you have to learn to see the meaning and intentions behind the words, even if the words themselves are a mangled affront to the language. Either that or date English majors (or journalism club members) exclusively.

Geeks are usually quite smart as a rule. Where are you hanging out at?
