Most of these answers are only partially correct or just PLAIN WRONG. If the Rx was written in July, it is still valid. Most Rx's are good for a year and NO Rx expires before 6 months unless the Dr. revokes it or no longer has a license to prescribe at the time you try to fill it. Here are a few guidelines for Rx's:
The length of time that a prescription is good for depends on the medication and the doctor. Any Rx for a drug that is non-controlled (ie: all anitbiotics, most allergy meds, many types of antidepressants, high blood pressure and cholesterol meds) will last a year from the date that it is written as long as the doctor who wrote it still has a license to prescribe. Controlled Rx's (most pain meds, some anxiety meds, anything with codeine) are good 6 months from the date written as long as the doctor still has license to prescribe. Contrary to popular belief, all narcotics (Morphine, Oxycontin, Ritalin) are good for the lifetime of the doctor who wrote the script as long as the doc still has license to prescribe, although many pharmacies will tell you they won't fill the Rx.

lol-i'm surprised at how many people read this question incorrectly...
go ahead in take it to the pharmacy-if it's been too long-they will usually fax a form to your doctor or call the doctor's office to get a new one sent over so they can fill it for you.
if they have a problem filling it-they will usually call you and advise you to go see the doctor about getting a new one.
not sure exactly why you are taking the meds (sometimes antidepressants are used to treat anxiety) but make sure to get it filled-depression never goes away on it's own and usually gets worse ( i battled mine for a year before finally taking meds-they helped so much!!)

You should be able to. I'm guessing that when you take it in the pharmacy might call your doc's office to verify? It might also depend on what the prescription is for.

your best bet is to call your local pharmacy and ask, savon is open 24 hours in some states. or just wait for the morning. is the answer is no. then call your doctor and have him call in a prescription. but this time, dont wait!!!

What was the prescription for? anti-biotics which you only bought partially? Vitamins? If they are anti-biotics, then you can't use that prescription anymore. But if they were for food supplements or vitamins, then they are still valid.
