I'm sure that genuinely conceited people have no need to ask this question. They are certain that they are "all that and a bag 'o chips." But if you were to talk to people around them, they would probably point out how insecure that person is.
I have seen conceit come out of a decision to stake ones territory as a worthwhile person (when a person has dealt with the last straw of low self-esteem) and the intention becomes distorted somehow in the behavior. So what happens is self-confidence gets blown out of proportion and becomes conceit.
Humility is the only cure. Knowing what a small part of the world one person takes and that we are all ants and have work to accomplish. Knowing that there's always someone smarter, thinner, prettier etc... helps us keep a healthy perspective. The most beautiful people (beautiful inside and outside) are very balanced with confidence and humility. Charlize Theron comes to mind.
Having a sense of humor about our own looks can also be a benefit to anyone. Homely people who can joke about their looks make people more comfortable than some insecure pretty stick figure whose personality is only visible when it comes to picking out eye shadow and lip tint.
We all need to have hobbies that are more important than mirrors.
Peace.

Do you really have to ask this question? Being comfortable and confident about yourself is one thing, but being conceited is really asinine. People who are that way are usually too self absorbed to see the good in others. Ever hear of pretty on the outside but ugly on the inside?

Becoming conceited means that you think so highly of yourself that you become rude to others. It's wrong because it's also considered being "prideful" and that is a sin.

Conceited, yes. Confident, no. There's a difference.

It wouldn't be if you had something to be conceited about. So I guess you are wrong.

No if it is in the proper place at the proper time. You become conceited if you always see yourself above all. Always saying you're right. Wait for someone to please you. Do not lift your own chair.

Its a very ugly trait. I'm guessing being spoiled rotten as a child as something to do with it.

Well it's not wrong if you're me, but it is if you're not me. You become conceited by not liking me, I would say. Which is nary possible.:-)
