I'm a high school student, last year a senior was given recognition at school because she had gone to flight school while still in high school. How can i do that? Where do I enroll? is it hard?

It's all about the money. When I started a Cessna cost a mere $27/hour. I've been out of it for a while, but consider in Europe the cost for that same Cessna is $185/hr plus the gas. Many Europeans want to attend flying camp that has the cheaper flying rates along with room and board. If you live near a private airport, call the flight school. They should have a check-out ride for a price and explain the timeframes, costs.

Flying is not hard. It's very fun at first. Flying the small planes gets you into a small airport and then, you're looking out at an empty runway. No car. Maybe a snack machine.

Often times you can simply go to your local Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at your local airport and they will offer flight instruction. You can also look up flight instruction in your yellow pages. Most airports will offer flight instruction. It is rather expensive but I think it is a worthwhile investment, especially if you are interested in a career in aviation. I got my private pilot's license the week that I turned 17 years old. Just like the senior in your high school last year, I received a lot of attention for doing this.

Its expensive, and if you put too much time into it your grades suffer.

If you want to get honors, check out concurrent enrollement. You can earn transferrable college credits from college while in high school. If you work very hard you can be two years ahead in college when you graduate high school.

The world looks radically different looking back from 22 or 24 than it did looking forward from 18. Be prepared for radical changes in perspective.
