I thought Robert Monroe's technique was worthless to be frank. I had more success with meditation. It just takes me hours and 98% of the time I don't succeed.

Isn't there a book that's actually CALLED Astral Projection? I used to have one called that. Alternatively Draja Mickaharic's book The Practice of Magic has a section on how to do it and more importantly how to prepare to do it. The first time usually seems to be far easier than all the other times. Some people never get beyond the first successful time. Mickaharic's books are excellent, affordable, and I think they are also still in print.

"Journeys Out of the Body", by Robert A. Monroe. He gives a technique near the end of the book. It works.

The very practical technique I learned that worked for me was from Israel Regardie's Tree of Life, which goes into a huge number of magical systems; that section was invaluable for me, though.
