What about combined meds? Does that offer hope or just more problems?

I see a therapist and am well aware of the time it takes for ADs to take effect.

as per my question, nah nothing helps really. ive been on aropax, effexor, endep, valpro, valium blah blah the list goes on
its very annoying, but i guess medication can only have its full effect if u stay positive and dont have too many stresses in your life

I would venture to say that anyone is clinically depressed has been on the "merry-go-round". I myself have been there...taking Paxil first. It did absolutely nothing for me. Then I started taking Trazodone which helped me to sleep as I have chronic insomnia. As of now I am still taking Trazodone & now Effexor. The Effexor has worked the best for me. With so many chemical issues I would think it would be hard not to have taking a ride on the merry go round. Combining meds can help but for how long...who knows. As someone who has been on some type of antidepressant for 10 yrs....the best I have found has been the Effexor XR

Must consider the fact; how you think can alter chemicals of the body. When there is an imbalance, there remain the negative thoughts, which tend to overcome the mind and continue creating this imbalance in spite of taking meds to counteract it.
In other words, if you don't change the thoughts you allow into your mind, meds will not resolve the problem, only reduce it somewhat. It would appear to be imperative to find out what those triggers are, which seem to present you with negativity and the aggravational effect of the imagination. Which tends to blow the negatives way out of proportion...

People think that depressin is only caused by chemical inbalances but no, that´s wrong. Depression is caused sometimes by chemical inbalances AND by psychological issues, and enviromental issues. So if you only treat the chemical inbalance the phsychogical part and the enviromental part are left hanging. That´s why the best treatment for depressio is the combination of medication and psychotherapy. Also antidepressants can take up to 4 weeks to start working, you need to find the right meds for you and that is up to your doctor.

But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

I have been on that merry go around. I have been on Prozac, Paxil, Buspar, and Wellbutrin. My issue is that I don't want to dependent on meds, yet I find myself having to go back on meds about every other year. It is rough. I hear a lot of good things about Cymbalta. Try that with therapy and it may help you. Good luck.

I finally got fairly lucky with Cymbalta, but am not completely better. I am continuing to take it, but will pursue other helpful things too. I already am in a "group" of women who talk about their problems and it seems odd, but it does help.

Before I would try combinations I would see about trying one of the MAO Inhibitor medications. They are dietary restrictions but these are supposed to work for "hard cases."

Good luck and God bless you.

Yes. For years. Most drugs prescribed to me have caused more problems. I have finally found something that helps a little and doesn't drug me out. Just my own personal advice, if it makes things worse or you can't function(some of us have to get up every morning and go to work, doctors don't seem to understand this), stop taking whatever it is and call the Doctor.
