I have recently started working out in a gym for the first time. I have been doing a lot of upper body lifting and I would be sore. But now I don't really get sore at all the next day. Does being sore indicate that your body is building muscle? Or is being sore just a thing that happens in the beginning phase of exercise?

Your body is use to your workout now. It's probably time to pick up the pace a bit and add on a little more to the weights. Increase your workout time and reps.

Yes and Yes,....You are building body Muscle and Being sore is usually just in the beginning until you get use to exercising more and more...............In fact, if you are exercising at least 3 days a week, you will be noticing different changes in your body as far as losing inches around your waist, in your clothing.....And as long as you don't over eat, or eat junk food a lot you will see a big change... It is still working,,,Keep it uo..You are an inspiration to me!

Try working out different muscles every other day. Like, do nothing but leg exercises one day and the next ,nothing but chest exercise. See if that brings back the sore. Your muscles need a day or so to heal as you are tearing them and thats when they get bigger......hope this helps..good luck :)

You get sore because you are working muscles you don't normally use. If they aren't sore, don't fret. It just means that your exercise is working! :)
