I am about 6 feet tall and i weigh about 147. My "body fat" that uses "electric impulse technology" to measure your body fat is saying that I have 22% body fat. I saw somewhere that 22% body fat means you are obese, and I'm basically skinny, I might have a little fat like lovehandles and i dont really have that much muscle mass, but this just doesn't sound right.

There is absolutely no way a scale can accurately measure body fat. You need a set of calipers and the ability to take pinch measurements at set locations on your body and then do the calculations to determine your body fat. You can get this done professionally at high end health clubs. But do not trust that scale.

No, 22% body fat is not obese, it is within the acceptable range for males. Just don't go over 25% or that would be considered overfat. My brother is very skinny, his body fat is about 17-18%. There really isn't that much difference between yours and his, it would mean losing a few pounds at most. Also those scales aren't always completely accurate, they could be out by a few percent, so you may well be under 20% body fat, so don't worry. HTH : )

those are not very accurate. Is it possible ...that's a stretch. If you have very little muscle mass and little love handle then yes. 22 % is not necessarily obese. The ration of fat to muscle is what makes it obese. 6' 147 is not obese..its underweight. SO no you are not obese

it doesn't sound right because it isn't right

It is possible that your scales are wrong, but jsut because you are skinny does not mean that your body does not consist of fats. Even my Physical Education teacher's friend is like you. And she took the test in a reliable hospital. So make sure your diet is healthy. 22% fats just mean that in your body, slightly more than 1/5 of matter is made up of fats.

what doesnt sound right is that you are 6ft and only 147.
if you dont exercise then that sound like you are lacking some serious muscle tissue.
22% does sound right however. thats normal. especially if you have had love handles you say? Almost undoubtedly somewhere in the vicinity of accurate then.
You need to put on about 15lbs id wager.
