First of all, consider switching her to a "weight control" cat food such as the Iams Weight Control indoor cat formula. It has something like 35% less fat than regular cat food, which is what your kitty needs. Be sure to cut out any "people food" or extra treats as these add on the calories and aren't good for your kitty's health.

Secondly, be sure to give her the proper portions (for this you can either consult the bag or your vet for guidelines).

Lastly, get her moving! Nothing extreme, but try and engage her in some play every day with some of her favorite toys (if she doesn't have any, be sure to get some!). If she is home alone a lot consider a kitty companion to play with (this will keep her active and engaged when you are not around). If that's not possible, consider some of those activity toys that are meant to keep cats stimulated when home alone. Also, just plain old playing works. Get her to go after some string, a toy, etc. Try for at least 10-15 min a day to start off with since she is so heavy. The ideal should be 30 minutes to an hour per day for an indoor cat.

You should address any stressors in your home....and have them both thoroughly evaluated by a vet. Low thyroid function can contribute greatly to a cat's weight, and any number of intestinal problems could be causing the other cat's refusal to eat and thrive...not to mention the throwing up. Has the thin one been wormed? That should be step number 1.

I don't know how much you're feeding your cats, but two meals a day is entirely sufficient. Cats are notorious for eating what they want, when they want. They also eat when they get bored. A diet formula isn't necessary as long as you cut down on how often she eats. And how much. And make it a high quality food. Look at the ingredients list on the food you're currently feeding her. Does it say "by-product" and/or "corn"? If so, change the food immediately. Do it gradually to help avoid stomach upset, but a quality food made of real meat and a more nutritious filler (like peas) will help with the weight problem. Corn does the same thing to cats that it does to humans; fills us up without giving us any nutritional benefits. It will also make cats eat more because, even though they feel full, their bodies know nutrition is missing so they feel the urge to continue eating until those needs are met.

Wellness, Nature's Variety, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Innova Evo, and Wysong's are all quality cat food brands. A less expensive, semi-good food is Nutro Max Cat.

Don't use Science Diet, Iams, Whiskas, Nine Lives, etc. All are complete crap.

And as long as you have them BOTH on a QUALITY food with just a couple meals a day, there shouldn't be any need to have them on different food. Quality food will make the skinny cat fatten up, and help the fat cat slim down (my male has been losing weight since being switched to a higher quality food, and the skinny female we adopted has filled out nicely....she was fed on Science Diet for 3 months at the shelter...it didn't do much for her).

I don't know why some of the senseible answers got thumbs down ratings but anyhow - at least you recognise that this is FAR too fat for your cat to be. You're going to have to put her onto some sort of "light" food & read the directions as to the weight loss rather than the weight maintenance amount to feed her & stick to it. It can be hard when the cat is hassling you for food but it's a matter of life or death really so stick with it. Slow even weight loss is the goal & seeing as a cat can't just go into the fridge & help itself it's up to you to get her out of this mess. If you need further advice speak to your vet about the best options.

Get an animal communicator (psychic) to find out what their problems are. It could be some kind of power struggle between them.

Another idea is to cut way back on the big one's food (you'll probably have to deal with a cranky kitty for a few days until they start to adjust.) Put the little one's food up high where the big one can't get it.

Are there other cats in the home??? If there aren't I would cut WAY back on the food I gave her because that much weight could easily kill a cat

I would definatley get her on some weight control cat food. I know they have Science Diet food that's for weight loss. I'm sure they have other brands of food for weight loss that's cheaper, if cost is an issue.

That's a tough one, 2 cats and 2 eating disorders...first, no food left down for either. Meal time and that's it. Feed them their own food (they should be eating different diets, easy info gained from the pet store or worse case the vet) and feed them in separate areas. Don's deviate from meal time or you are wasting your time.

That is unhealthy for your cat's heart and body. You need to feed them separately, ONE CAN each of catfood. It is sufficient fort heir needs.

go to your vet...they have a special cat food for overweight cats...your cat probably wont like it at first but will eventually take to it......she /he needs to go on a diet...fast!!!
