No. They die from the other things which their bodies can not fight off because of aids.
The leading cause of death in AIDS patients was infection, primarily infection with bacteria (30 percent) or other opportunistic organisms (25 percent). P. carinii pneumonia was the third leading cause of death (16 percent). Patients not receiving prophylaxis against P. carinii pneumonia were more likely to die of P. carinii pneumonia than patients receiving prophylaxis.

Usually people with aids will die from complications of pneumonia or heart conditions due to immune deficiency caused by aids. There are drugs available today that will allow aids victims to live longer and more quality lives than in the past.

AIDS can be fatal if it isn't controlled with antiviral medications. They haven't found a cure for it yet and it is contagious.
Too many people die from it because they don't have access to medications and it is passed on because of lack of proper education/precautions.
In some third world countries, men with AIDS believe they will be cured if they have sex with a virgin. It is very sad that this incorrect information is still being spread.

Aids itself does not kill people. Aids weekends the bodies immune system and therefore it becomes more suseptable to other things. When the white blood cell count gets low the body cant properly fight off any foriegn bodies or bacteria that get into the body. If an Aids patient takes their medication and vitamins, they can potentially live a long and happy life.

The virus can attack the nervous system, in which case a person could, literally, "die from AIDS". But as other replies have said, what usually happens is that the virus knocks out the immune system and actual death is caused by some silly little disease that a healthy person could recover from in a couple of days.

Hmmm..that's a really interesting question. Well, all cells die if they are not given food or water after 24-48 hours, so my guess is that after 48 hours the virus would be dead, but before that the virus is still able to be spread...but that's just a guess. Edit: how is her boyfriend messed you ignorant piece of sh*t, would you rather him ponder about Rihanna lyrics and what Kanye said to Taylor Swift? He asked a very very interesting (and medically related) question which got me thinking, and many couples have nothing interesting to talk about, so saying her bf is messed speaks volumes about your own stupidity.

I don't think AIDS kills most people directly. When people get an infection when they have AIDS, their bodies can't fight it off and they die from that.

yes. If I can remember correctly, AIDS develops T-cells which destroy the white blood cells making your immune system weak to disease and infection. So even the common cold can be very harmful, sometimes fatal.
