Well, once again the a--hole losers have to visit the animal forums to make their childish comments. I have to wonder about guys who feel threatened by small animals. Hmmmm, you know what they say about guys who don't get along with cats.... Of course I see I few females in there also. Isn't there a dating forum on here where they could meet each other and giggle about how nasty they can be???

Per your problem, cats do get weird about their litter boxes sometimes. If you've been keeping it clean, and she still prefers to go outside, she may have decided that outdoors offers more opportunities, and is cleaner. I'd be grateful for that, as litter boxes are a pain.

Rather than get up three times a night, does your yard and safety situation permit you putting her in a wire enclosure like those found at a pet store? Sort of like her own cat yard.

We have a lot of cats at our shelter, and since we're in a rural area, it isn't safe to let them roam. But during good weather, they are placed in a large fenced pen, with things to climb on, housing and so forth. They love it!!! The new ones are always skittish and hide for awhile, or howl, but learn to love it because of all the outdoor activity going on (so many birds and squirrels!)

If you can't create a mini-environment for her night-time habit, change the litter box itself AND the brand of litter, and see if that makes a difference for her.

Good luck to you.

I am going through the exact same problem as you are going thorugh right now. I adore my cat and he has been absolutely great until we moved to this apartment complex 3 months ago. It isn't safe to let cats outside unsupervised in this place so I was going to turn my cat into an indoor cat only (he was always an indoor-ourdoor cat). After about a month of watching my cat getting depressed, I gave in and took him out for a walk with him on a halter and leash (he is trained for that.). Eversince then, he constantly wants to go walkies and meows and meows until I do something. I tried the water pistol. That gets him away from the door. Then he goes to my daughter and meow and meows. I take him to his kennel in the bathroom, turn off the light and close the door. Then I feel very very bad. I go take him out. He behaves for a while and then he wants to go out again.

The only solution I can think of right now that will satusfy the beloved pet and keep me and the rest of my family SANE is to get an outdoor cat enclosure (like a giant chicken coop hee hee hee). This way, my spoilt cat will have his "great outdoors,' still be safe and I can get my beauty sleep!

Are u home during the day? Then keep kitty up, not all day long but don't let she sleep all day long either. We all know that cats are nocturnal so you need to change the sleep pattern. If she is allowed outside during the day then of course she thinks it's OK at nite, that's when she's awake and wants to hunt. Good luck, it can be done, just a few more sleepless nites.

cats are night creatures, they sleep during the day. either get a kitty door or boot her but out every night and let her in, in the morning to eat and sleep all day.

cats are naturally night time animals. thats why their eyes glow
in the dark. its made for that. you should spade her so you won't
have a lot of male cats meowing at your door when she's in heat.
i hate to keep cats locked up when they are very good outside.
they always come back and they like to play with the rodents at night.

Your cat is like my cats and that's good. You must appreciate the fact that the cat is not using her litter box and going outside instead. Kick her a** out at night just once before you go to sleep and let her back in in the morning. I only let them come in at night if it's too cold outside and that doesn't happen too often.

Is she fixed? If not she is just out chasing things. You could bring the kitty litter into the bedroom. Not the best thing but it might help. Good Luck, Becky

Get a doggy door for your cat. Maybe your cat doesn't want to smell her stinky cat box and wants to go outside. maybe she has a boyfriend. Or maybe she just wants to go outside like normal animals usually want to do.

Shoot the cat, buy a dog, train him to go out before bed and in the morning.

time for the cat to go bye bye... since the cat is causing you so much grief why not get rid of it....

see your problem will then be solved.
