Trying to fix ID theft takes a few steps. Go to the Federal Trade Commission site at http://www.ftc.com and go to their ID Theft page. It gives you all the information you need.

You need to file a police report first, as the credit agencies and creditors will want to see it. They will also send you affidavids to sign. Since several may want a notorized copy, it's best to get several at once and keep them on hand.

It's all in the FTC file...go there and read up. contact me if you have more questions.

So am I, ans it's miserable, right? i filed a police report and sent copies to the credit agencies that the person had opened up accounts in my name. They've not pursued the debt fortunately. I also put an alert on y social security # with the three credit agencies (call any one and they'll file with the two others)....I'm still having problems with credit report/score though...
