DON'T WORRY. that's the first thing. i have four dogs and this house has had kennel cough so much it couldve been an isolation clinic at one point. No kennel cough is not contagious to humans but it is very contagious to other dogs. our vet compaired it to human's flu. It is not going to kill your puppy, but it can get worse. i would say take it to the vet as soon as you get a chance, and your vet will give you a couple of different types of medicine to give to your pup. Like i said, don't worry, everything will be ok.

I recently adopted a dog that had kennel cough also. This has to be treated with medication or the dog will develop pneumonia and can die from it if it gets bad..... You need to take your pet to the vet asap to get this medication. My dog just finished his medication yesterday and has not coughed at all since the first day or so that I began giving him the medication. It is HIGHLY contagious to other dogs but not to humans.

Kennel cough is not contagious to people but it is highly contagious to other dogs. Sometimes dogs can fight it off on their own, but it can move into pneumonia so I would take him to the vet. They may just give you some cough tabs to help ease the cough if it's not really bad. But if it's really bad they might give you some antibiotics.

Kennel cough is highly contagious (not to people), and not uncommon at kennels and shelters.
If you got him from a shelter, call them and ask for some meds for him. Did you get a health guarantee? At the shelter where I am there is a two week health guarantee.
Otherwsie get him to a vet for proper medication.
Good luck with him

Take him to the vet asap. Not sure if its contaigous to humans, don't think so , but your vet can tell u that too. I would definitely be worried. Did the place you adopted him vaccinate for kennel cough. Call them too. You vet can tell u if it is contaigous to other dogs too. He may have gotten it from the adoption agency where u got him. I know that when I get my dogs their yrly vac they do kennel cough, rabies, etc. 7 in 1 shot. But anyhow, yes be concerned about it, for sure.

Take the advice above, about vets. It is not contagious to people, but transferable to other dogs.

The vet can give him a shot. Take him there as soon as you can. Also, he is contagious to other dogs, but not to people.

I don't know whether or not if you can get sick but if you do catch his virus you might end up with pneumonia. Take him to the vet first thing...ASAP
