SOUR CREAM MASHED POTATOES

Cook 8 potatoes, mash, using no milk.

Add: 1 pt. sour cream Dash of pepper

Pour in casserole and sprinkle with 1 package grated Cheddar cheese. Dot with butter and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 1/2 hour before baking. Bake 350 for 30 minutes.

You would bake that in an uncovered dish because you want the top to brown !

Sounds Tasty !!!!!!!

And at a low temperature like 350 degrees it wont burn in 30 minutes don't worry

Bake it covered until the potatoes are cooked or your cheese may burn then uncover the dish and put the broil on to slightly brown the cheese before serving sprinkle with chives

It really depends on whether you want this to be all soft (in which case use a cover) or to have a crust (leave it uncovered). If you want it to have a bit of a crust but you want to avoid burning, keep the cover on until the last ten minutes and then uncover it while it finishes baking.

Bake uncovered, the cheese with melt and slightly brown and the sour cream won't get soupy.

To keep it moist keep it covered, then toward the end of cooking to brown the cheese uncover.

I would cover it loosely with foil for the first 20 min and then uncover for the last ten so the cheese on the top doesn't burn.
