Her family is abusive especially her brother (physically and mentally) and her parents do nothing about it. I try my best to stop it, but this has been going on for over a year. I can't stand hearing about it and its making me unhappy, but I lover her more than anything, What should I do? I don't want to hurt her and we have over a year before she can move out.

don't get involved in the family feuds, but avoid going over there... tell your gf that it's healthier at yours or someplace else

Bless your heart!

There are a lot variables, your girlfriend's age has a lot to do with it. If she is almost old enough to leave home, perhaps she can live with a friend or relative just to get her safe.

As with all things, there is always an element of truth on both sides and you are hearing a portion of the story; it really isn't fair for your girlfriend to give you a "blow by blow" if she keeps going back for more.

If you are there and her brother starts in, simply say, "this isn't okay and you need to knock it off" or "you know what they call this, abuse" and then let him think about it, he may get the clue.

I think you are a hero to be there for her and she is very fortunate to have such a loving tuned-in young man in her life.

Good luck!

Do not break up with her because of her family. That will only make things worse. Also, it's not her fault. She doesn't deserve to lose you over her family. One year is a long time but it's not that long. If you think you may want to marry her you should def. hang in there. One year and then you can break away for the rest of your life from them. How old is she? Is she under 18? If so there may be something you can do. Are you living with her family?

Why dont you call the police as a anonymous caller? the cops will just show up and probably either take him away or get a warning. either way im pretty sure it will make him think twice about hitting his sister again.

if you are not that old... say younger than 30.... just get rid of her.. it will be a problem through out the relationship and will be a constant struggle for you... you will not win the hearts and minds of her family.... it's okay... i know you may love this one... but you might want to consider that when picking someone...

The two of you go to other places together. Don't spend so much time around them.

call the cops or social services and they will take care of it
you do not want to get involved in case he decides to hurt you or even sue you

I didn't like my ex's family. Why? Because they didn't like blacks and I'm half black. They always turned their nose up at me. No what I did, ignored the hell out of them and neva spoke to them. I stay outta their way, they stay outta mine.
