well i dont know about toy poodles, but i have a sharpei and he is very independent he does his own thing. we have 3 dogs and they all get along great. although he is very territorial about his dog bowl :) i can tell you that sharpei are junk eaters, if you leave anything around with a good smell he will eat it whole! lol . but we love our sharpei he is very affectionate. I definetly suggest a sharpei. but they have been known to have skin problems, eye problems and because there ears are so small and closed, they need to be cleaned at least once a week. they are a high maintenace dig. have fun!!

based on the person above's comments, i would say that toy poodles and shar peis are very much alike!

i had a toy poodle until very recently and he was very independent - he never liked to be walked on a leash, but would just walk alongside of you the whole time. he also liked to get into trash if he didn't get enough attention or eat things off of the floor. i think any two dogs can interact well if they are praised for their good interactions and if they meet on "neutral territory". puppies who grow up together will also most likely get on well.

well in my neighborhood i recently got a toy poodle puppy and there is a dog down the street Greta who is a shar Pei and they are best of friends Greta is about 16 mths and my poodle is 9 weeks my friend also has a bichon who gets along with my poodle and Greta also gets along with her. i would think that they would get along if they like played together under supervision i would also praise them too when they are good together that's what i did with my poodle and Greta.. neutral territory is the best to meet on or they might get aggressive
