The short answer is that they're the largest male religious order in the Catholic church. Also called the Society of Jesus, they were founded in 1540 when Pope Paul III approved the constitution of the new order, founded by Ignatius Loyola.

The basic beliefs of the order are, of course, Catholic. In addition, they hold to the teachings of their founder as embodied in his work, the Jesuit "Constitutions". This work sets up a centralized organization and advocates self-denial and absolute obedience the the pope and church superiors. His main principle became the unofficial Jesuit motto: Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam ("for the greater glory of God"). This phrase is designed to reflect the idea that any work that is not evil can be meritorious for the spiritual life if it is performed with this intention, even things considered normally indifferent. The original Jesuit mission was three-fold: founding schools, converting non-Christians to Catholicism and stopping the spread of Protestantism.

Needless to say, that last objective didn't make them any friends in the Protestant church. The Jesuits have been accused of an assortment of evil acts, but these accusations appear to have been, by and large, baseless. At least one -- the "Monita Secreta", allegedly a set of secret instructions to the Jesuits -- is now generally accepted to be a forgery.

Pleasantflower,
They are the most educated, dedicated, cutthroat, spreaders of deciet that has ever manifested in the Roman Catholic Church.

They are of the Society of Jesus, founded by Ignatius Loyola. They are the creators of the Sacred Heart Cult. And they have been murderers through many parts of history. Some have even accredited them with the creation of Islam.

Jesuits are the LOWEST type of priesthood in the RC CULT.

They are the eyes and ears of the poop.

They do all his dirtiest jobs.
Murder, Infiltrate and spy on Governments, etc.. ANYTHING to further the cause of THE CULT.

Originated by LOYOLA - a terrible murderer with a diabolical gang of cutthroats that he had named priests by one of the poops who needed HENCHMEN.

I had two uncles who were Jesuits and they gave me many stories from their history. YUK!
