you could try dropping lots of hints and see if he picks up the ball and asks you. Otherwise, go ahead and ask. At least you know either way and you stop torturing yourself.

Talk to him and make sure while your talking to him, be yourself. And while your talking to him, you would soon realize you could get comfortable with him and soon enough when you two get closer, that's the oppurtunity to ask him out. It sounds like it takes time but it would be all worth it, you'll see! Good luck!

flirt with him a little, and if he flirts back it means he could be interested. then you could ask him if he wants to hang out, like go to a football game, or just get something to eat.
