Can anyone tell me about hyperlexia and also how it relates to autism. No copy paste stuff please...just any knowledge you may have. I have a 2 year old son with Autism who has started to point to letters and numbers and say what they are clearly.

Sounds like your son has Asperger's. Kids with "classic autsim" have delayed speech, if any speech at all.
My brother had 4 kids - 2 with classic autism. I've been to many seminars on autism & most of the parents I meet there have kids with Asperger's. Somewhere between 65% to 88% of all kids classified as "autistic" are Asperger's. Many of them have described kids who can speak & read early, but have great difficulty expressing emotion or picking up on clues to what others are feeling. These are the kind of kids that would not have been diagnosed 20 or 30 years ago. They would have just been refered to as "brilliant, but odd."

the truth I've never heard about autism...but isn't it good that your son can identify letters and numbers if he is only 2 years old?
