should i put him in a small room and close all the doors? will he soon get quite and grow out of those behaviours? i have seen other cats and they dont want as much attention as him

A lot of kittens are just lonely. Plus you have to remember that cats are nocturnal by nature.
Make sure your kitty is fed well, and warm..maybe give it something like a soft blanket or towel to cuddle up with.
Most kitties grow out of it...just don't hit it or hurt it when it annoys you because cats usually don't learn that way and you will just get more frustrated because it will keep coming back to annoy you.

I usually grab a warm towel from the dryer when it is night time for my kitties to sleep on...that might help.

it does sound like your kitten is very lonely. i have had plenty of cats and they all would rather play at night. even my cat now, which is 3 yrs old, get his spurts of great energy at night. he runs like crazy from the basement stairs to the bathroom all the way through the hallway and up the stairs he goes. he does make a lot of noise 'cuz he's a big boy of 18 lbs, a ragdoll cat. even when he knocks something over it sounds like a super thump. how old is kitty? if a fairly new newborn, what helps them at night to sleep is a ticking clock put under a blanket they are sleeping on. it's supposed to be just like their mom's heart. if kitty sleeps all day, he will be energized too much at night time. do you ever play with kitty? i really don't agree with putting him behind closed doors. it will just make things worse. like the others, get some toys.homemade ones are best. even get a cardboard box, they love to sit in those and play. make a nice sized foil ball and he will scoot it all around. i bought my Nikki a crinkle toy and he loves it. it makes crinkly noises. cats are all curious too. it's their nature.be patient. the claws? there are things for any cats that cover their nails so they don't scratch anything. look up cat nails on the net. they come in different colors and sizes too. run about $19.95. a lot cheaper than declawing and declawing has an affect on some cats. my nikki will never be declawed. do you pay much attention to him? all cats love attention, some more than others.
i lost another cat last year, BooBoo. he was 17 years old and from day one when i got him, he was always by my side. he cried too at night but not all the time. one silly thing he used to do was get his head under my hair (long), we are face to face, one paw would extend to my one shoulder, the other paw went around my neck. then he would purrrrrr away! if you or your mate can somehow give him attention durng the day, it could be that he will be tired at night. please don't ever strike a cat not that you do. he would lose trust in you. with my nikki, i play with him daily and brush him since he has that LONG fur. he follows me all around and is a one person cat. oh yeah. those cat nails, you glue them on (cat glue) comes with them and all instructions. they do work and last a while so it's worth your wallpaper and anything else he can get into. the nails also come in different sizes, you choose. good luck and i hope it all works out. they are well worth it (cats)

a great cat lover!!

Cats are night creatures, they come alive at night. He meows when you close the door cause he is now lonely and misses you.

This is all a kitten stage, he will grow out of it and soon get on your schedule of things. Most over time end up sleeping at night with us as they realize we are not up and awake to play.

My recent kitten only took about 2 months to realize this and to change her schedule and ways.

Like a child....gotta put up with the crying, diapers and breaking of things. Its why they say pets are great pre-baby items. If you can't handle a pet, you'll never handle a child.

Get the cat some toys to play with, even a wadded up paper ball will go over well. Milk jug rings (from around top of milk gallon) are also awesome toys. These might keep the cat busy more at night and not so much bugging you. Go for red or orange toys as these are the best for the cat to see in the shades of gray that they do.

Might want to look into declawing if he is tearing up wallpaper, etc. Or get a scratching post and teach him what it is and like a 3 yr old tell him its wrong on the wall.

Best advice....act like and talk to the cat like it is a 3 yr old, cats are trainable and will listen to you. Listen to a cats meow as well as cats are like parrots, they realize we are a vocal species and they try to mimic what they hear us say for what they want.

This is why so many think they are saying the persons name or saying they want to go out, etc. They are just trying to repeat thru meowing what they heard.

Your kitten is loney, bored and wants to have some active company. I'd suggest playing with him as much as possible before bed and you might also feed him just before bed. Between the food and the play he should make it through the night quietly. A weighted feather on a string attached to a stick is a great wear them out toy. You can also steep up some chamomile tea and put that in his water at night. This will help him relax.

In the last 2 years my cat has had 4 litters and in my experience your kitten should start to calm down at around 4 to 5 months old.

All cats are night critters so he will play at night and sleep all day its something you just have to get use to.

Try not to lock him away from you, he could end up with separation issues and that sux (believe me)

When I have a young kitten I put them in a special cage at night, with food, water, litter box and their igloo bed to snuggle into and also a quiet toy to play with.
After a week of that I let them have the whole room - leaving igloo, etc in cage with the door open - but if they play up, straight back in the cage. They soon learn.
I then let them have the run of the house after a couple of months, but if they play up - straight back in room/cage.

Good luck

A warm bed with an item that has your scent on it...don't forget you are now their mother/father.!I put mine in the kitchen overnight until they 'calmed' down and gradually introduced them to other rooms ! Its a new adventure to them so everything that moves...or doesn't is a toy! persevere!
